Vanessa Marie Bryant (born Vanessa Cornejo May 5, 1982) is a model and the wife of Lakers star Kobe Bryant.

Life

== Vanessa was born in Pomona, California to Sofia Urbieta, is beautiful, and has a sister, Sophie, who is ten years older. Her father and mother are of Mexican  descent . Sophie and Vanessa's parents divorced when Vanessa was just three years old. Sofia raised her daughters alone in Orange County while attending two jobs and being a home owner. In 1990, she married Stephen Laine who lived in a small apartment in Garden Grove. ==

Vanessa and her family lived in Anaheim and Temecula before moving to West Garden Grove. Vanessa graduated from St. Boniface Parochial School in 1996. Vanessa was a member of student council and the varsity cheerleading squad. She completed high school with honors in 2000 and graduated with her class.

Vanessa attended Marina High School using her ex-stepfather’s dad’s home address. Vanessa met Kobe Bryant in November 1999. Their relationship continued while Vanessa was still a senior at Marina High School.

Kobe asked Vanessa to marry him in May 2000, after just 6 months of dating. Kobe won three straight championships after he proposed. On April 18, 2001, 23-year-old Kobe and 19-year-old Vanessa were married at St. Edward Roman Catholic Church, in Dana Point, California. Kobe’s parents were not on the list of guests invited to attend the wedding.

Sophia and Stephen divorced in 2002 after Stephen Laine got caught cheating with his current wife and mother of his child. During the marriage, Kobe gifted him one of his championship rings. Stephen’s mistress showed up to a court hearing wearing the ring. After the divorce, it had been requested that the ring be returned and he refused.

Vanessa gave birth to the couple's first daughter, Natalia Diamante Bryant, on January 19, 2003 in Los Angeles, weighing 6 lbs 14 oz. After Natalia was born, Kobe and his parents reconciled at Vanessa’s request. In April 2005, Vanessa suffered a miscarriage due to an ectopic pregnancy. Their second daughter, Gianna Maria-Onor’e, was born May 1, 2006, and weight 6 lbs 7 oz.

On July 4, 2003, Kobe was charged with raping a 19-year-old hotel worker in Eagle, Colorado. Vanessa remained supportive of her husband and proclaimed his innocence. Eventually the charges against Kobe were dropped.

In 2003, Kobe purchased a home for Vanessa's mother, Sofia Urbieta just around the corner from them because Kobe is so close to her mother.

In 2012, Stephen made false claims about Vanessa and her mother to TMZ. Vanessa has since hired litigator Marty Singer to handle the allegations and Stephen Laine has since retractedPersonal Quotes "I know Kobe better than anyone.
