Asia Irving (born January 12, 1991) is an American socialite, fashion designer, businesswoman, model, and is best known for being the older sister of current NBA player Kyrie Irving. Irving has been involved in the fashion industry for nearly five years.
Early Life and EducationEdit
Irving is the daughter of Drederick and Elizabeth Irving, and the stepdaughter of Shetellia Irving. Irving has two younger siblings: Kyrie, is the starting point guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers and London.
Her father, Drederick, played college basketball at Boston University and played professionally in Australia for the Bulleen Boomers Irving lived in the Melbourne suburb of Kew before relocating to the United States when she was three years old. Irving's mother, Elizabeth, died from an illness when she was five, so Drederick raised her with the help of Irving's aunts.
Irving grew up in West Orange, New Jersey. She studied accounting at Temple University, Fox School of Business and worked Temple Men's Basketball Team. After graduating, she pursue a career in fashion.
Irving began her career as model and swiftly became one of the most influential people in the fashion industry. Although she works with high-profile clients and has developed her own recognizable style, she does not have any formal fashion training. Since her brother is an NBA All-Star, it gave her the opportunity to meet and work with some high-profile clients. As a stylist, she has worked with NBA and WNBA players. Irving and Sydney Smith opened a clothing boutique called Elizabeth Smith in the Northeast Ohio; the boutiques carry the concept, 'young contemporary with a distinct edge.'
Aside of the fashion world, Asia Irving enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends. During an interview, Asia reveals she actually is African-American through her mother, –who was adopted from a Native American reservation in Minnesota.
Asia also revealed she feels most beautiful, bare in a ponytail or bun, adding: “I never really realized just how much having your hair from around your face allows your best facial features to shine.” Her celebrity body inspiration is Rihanna and says she hits the gym frequently to work out on abs, legs, and butt.
